Joe Calzaghe

Joe Calzaghe was born February 23, 1973 in Hammersmith England not knowing he was destined to become one of the most accomplished fighters in England. Joe Calzaghe began his professional career with a winning streak of twenty two fights (twenty one by knockout) before he faced very experienced, former two time king Chris Eubank for the vacant WBO super middleweight title. Joe Calzaghe prevailed by besting the former champion over twelve rounds en route to a unanimous decision win. That was the beginning of a long nine year reign consisting of eighteen successful defenses (ten by knockout). Joe has only tasted the canvas twice against Kabary Salem and explosive punching Byron Mitchell. In his last title defense he gave young Jeff Lacy a boxing lesson and nearly shut him out over twelve rounds. Their has also been talk of a fight consisting him and light heavyweight belt holder Clinton Woods.
